DISCIPLINE- REPORTING
By

In a lot of work places we
have an unstated culture of not reporting our peers for wrong doing as long as
it does not affect us directly until the person is caught or until justice
catches up with the person.
For being aware and not reporting,
you are as guilty as the person that committed the crime.
Sometimes, the supervisors
simply transfer the person at the slightest opportunity and not deal with the
situation of the person or report the incidence.
Remember that what goes
around comes around, run any organisation you are in as if it were your own,
would you take that from your staff if that were your organisation?
Organizations that do not
have an anonymous complaint apparatus/system for staff to report others should
create one, organizations that have such should encourage their staff to use it
and ensure that the principles of transparency and privacy are of highest
standards in such a system. But ensure that all cases are properly investigated
and errant staff properly dealt with.
A reminder of how
important this issue is can be found in the Bible, the story of Joshua. Joshua
even after victory had to deal with the recalcitrant soldier (Achan) so as to
continue winning. If this was not done, the people of Israel would have
suffered the fate of the 36 people destroyed by Ai and your work will be ended
and your victory short lived. Somebody might have seen him taking or hiding the artifacts but kept mute.
The bigger you get, the
more decisive you have to be.
SUCCESS IS YOURS!
